Rory and her team created 3 custom pieces for us - a 3 drawer kitchen cabinet, a media center and some spice racks. Rory and her team were great from the beginning to the end. Her suggestions were very helpful, her team created the pieces quickly and everything looks great once it was installed. On the kitchen cabinet, I had originally wanted to go with 2 deep but Rory suggested we go with 3 - a shallow top drawer followed by an normal sized 2nd drawer followed by a deep bottom drawer. It was the perfect suggestion to maximize storage space. We also need to match the color of the existing cabinets and the
Heartwood team was able to do this with no problem. For the custom media cabinet, we have a non-square living room and we needed a cabinet that would fit in a corner with a 60 degree angle. The cabinet needed to fit perfectly but it also needed to accommodate all of my A/V equipment while providing enough ventilation so the equipment wouldn't overheat. The final product was perfect - it looks great while also providing all of the functionality we needed. This was my first experience buying custom furniture and the experience with Heartwood makes we want to commission all types of bespoke wood products in the future.

We spent months trying to find a wall unit to fill a large, blank wall in our living room. Our home lacked basic storage for books, special family memorabilia, and display areas for a collection of California pottery. All were relegated to a few shelves in the dining room, stacks, and boxes- not a pretty sight. We finally faced reality and started interviewing custom cabinet woodworkers. Rory was right on time for our first meeting, subsequent design and planning session, to final installation. We felt that she truly listened to what we wanted and offered creative/functional design suggestions that we did not even think of. This was the first time we had a custom piece of furniture built and despite Rory's superb communication skills, it felt a little like building a rocket ship in a garage. Well, we are thrilled to say, when it was time to launch the "rocket ship"' it not only flew, but it soared!

We were impressed by their attention to detail- made sure the self-closing doors and drawers closed properly and spent extra time adjusting one door so that it met their high standards. The crew vacuumed up and left everything clean. Any problems? Just one...thinking of the next project to have Rory work with us on 🙂

My project was a small project which I was having a difficult time finding a contractor. I had gone through multiple people with no success. To add insult to injury, I had a major remodel done and did not have a great experience. Heartwood was the first company I called. They were responsive and informative. We set a meeting and they were on time and excited to help me with my project. Now, the project. I have a fireplace that was built from the wall and is VERY uneven (I.e. the terrible remodel experience). The fireplace basically needed a surround. Rory, not only was still willing to do the project, but was very diligent and patient. Rory had to visit multiple times to get the correct measurements due to the fireplace being uneven. The results were wonderful. I love the fireplace is beautiful!!!! I am so pleased I chose Heartwood.

Rory and Isaias built us a stand alone bar for our sun room. The design was consistent with the existing cabinets and mantel in our historic home. The cabinet was made with 100% doug fir and the finish was made to match the existing cabinetry in the home. The cabinet employed raised panels, custom moulding, dental features, custom corbels, custom hardware, inset sink, with a bar top made to match the existing fireplace mantel with a mappa inlay.
The craftsmanship was 'old world' and the cabinet was entirely hand made. I couldn't be more pleased with the result (which is basically a fine piece of furniture) and it was worth the wait. I interviewed 5 different cabinet makers and Rory and Isaias were the only cabinet makers to make their own raised panels, doors, and drawers etc. Most cabinet makers use press wood or plywood in every design. I highly recommend Heartwood Industries.
Rory was very accommodating and customer orientated. The project took longer than originally contracted for, but part of that is to be expected because of design changes and problems that naturally arise.

Rory and her TEAM are excellent... We had two cabinet doors made to match existing doors in kitchen... PERFECT match! They also, changed the trash "drawer" area in kitchen and it works perfect... NO more opening a cabinet door and then pulling on old "pull-out trash bins". We also, had two other challenges... My office furniture fit perfect in our old home but, in moving we needed to cut down my existing file drawer to fit under work space...
Rory and TEAM took the cabinet drawer back to their shop and were able to "re-work" the cabinet by cutting off the bottom and then stabilizing the drawer.. Works great and fits in my office! The last request was to have a small table made to fit behind a jacuzzi --- Rory and TEAM made this happen too! Rory is very professional and is a joy to work with... Heartwood Industries a true find--- they will always be on my list!

This was a slightly unusual job. We needed a wood prototype made for a new back and body stretching device, which looks like a piece of fine furniture.
Rory, Heartwood's owner and her partner, Isaias, did not disappoint. We supplied rough templates for the device we were prototyping, and they produced a beautiful sample of our product. Isaias even corrected some errors in the original measurements which would have rendered the prototype as less than perfect. So, the result was excellent and exactly what we were looking for.
Our product also needed a padded and upholstered top so Rory recommended a shop for that, Morro Auto Interiors, also in Van Nuys, California, who did an equally excellent job, way beyond our expectations. They tailored the cushion top in a much better way than we had envisioned it.
As others have already mentioned, Rory was great to work with. She has that really wonderful "can do" attitude and we appreciated that very much.

Rory and her team provided floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and drawers for our kitchen, mud room and pantry - a floor space that totals nearly 800 square feet. Although we came to her with a design that we were confident in, she - with our blessing - enhanced and revised it and made it all fit our space perfectly. She is everything that you would expect - and wish for - in a quality cabinet/furniture maker. We cannot recommend her more highly.
We came to Rory with a definitive take on what we wanted. She not only executed it beautifully, she brought great wisdom and experience to the process of re-doing our kitchen that allowed us to see a few errors in our initial thinking.
We had interviewed 5 other cabinet makers - most of them with very big shops and overhead and interested in getting in and out of projects quickly (and not in a good way). Rory came to us and right away my wife was at ease with her experience and intelligence. Her bid was reasonable and although she doesn't provide the fancy computer-generated design of some of her competitors, the quality is there in the end: everything fits, matches and feels as if it was all done with great care - and for your particular space. Remember, you're gonna look at your kitchen for a long time to come - love everything about it, and with Rory you don't have to worry about saying to yourself: "Now why did the cabinet maker do that?" or "That was sloppy."
It's been three years since she and her team finished and we're pleased with every inch of her work. Rory took on an enormous job and - for us - proved that quality crafts-people do, indeed, still exist.

Rory and her partner did excellent job in restoring my old grandfather clock and the legs of a unique coffee table. Also had an old bed frame that they cut out the sides and made fit the under bed drawers. The work is done seamless.
Rory and her partner came and took the precise measurements and had all the items picked up and did the repair and alteration work at the shop and had them delivered on time and everything was done exactly the way was described and requested. I recommend them for every wood furniture work. I am planning to have them to make office book shelves and a corner cabinet.

We had an area near our kitchen where we wanted an area for sitting, eating, etc. The Heartwood team designed a beautiful piece of furniture that they installed in the area. The piece is unique but matches the rest of our kitchen nicely. It has a durable finish that is appropriate for the amount of use.
Service was solid. They responded quickly to our request for a quote, had great ideas, came up with a reasonable estimate and did the job exactly as explained. Would definitely use them again for any custom wood projects.

They custom built all the cabinets and worked hard to make every aspect right.
